Ilene is a NYC-based, nationally recognized Registered Dietitian Nutritionist, Certified Diabetes Educator, and IAYT-certified yoga therapist. A NYSAND media spokesperson, Ilene is a sought-after presenter of CPE webinars, speaking engagements at local and national conferences, and has been featured on radio, local television and in publications including Self Magazine and Yoga Journal. 

Throughout the years, Ilene has provided medical nutrition therapy, education classes, and insulin pump trainings in Spanish to Spanish speaking patients across the lifecycle. Ilene has used her fluency in spoken and written Spanish to communicate with over 85% of her patient population in various hospitals, clinics, and diabetes centers in the New York City area, and continues to expand her private practice to reach Spanish speaking clients in need of her services. Ilene also worked for over two years in a pediatric outpatient clinic and two school based health clinics, providing MNT and weight management counseling to Spanish speaking children, teens and their parents. 

As a Certified Spanish tutor, Ilene drew upon her experience tutoring Spanish to develop a Continuing Professional Education courses and a webinar series designed especially for Registered Dietitian Nutritionists. To date, Ilene has presented various webinars and live presentations on Spanish for RDNs and is excited to bring this topic to dietitians across the country in interactive formats. Ilene is passionate about sharing her Spanish teaching skills with nutrition professionals in all practice settings who want to learn the language to improve communication with their patients and clients, while increasing their professional skills development, career enhancement and marketability in the workforce.

Alenka Ravnik-List is a multilingual Registered Dietitian and a Certified Diabetes Educator, committed to improving the quality of life of others by sharing her knowledge and expertise.
She was born in Argentina, where she did her educational training at the University of Buenos Aires (UBA) and obtained her Bachelor in dietetics and Master’s in Nutrition.

She later moved to New York City, where she became a Registered Dietitian and a Certified Diabetes Educator and has worked in New York City for the past 17 years, primarily at Mount Sinai Hospital where she served as a Diabetes Program Coordinator.
Alenka also has extensive experience in the corporate arena. She has worked as a Field-based Clinical Educator representing the AstraZeneca Steady Start Educator Network. She has help initiate patients on injectable therapy, and provided ongoing support to build patient confidence and retention on prescribed therapy.
Alenka has contributed nutrition articles to various newsletters, lectured to medical professionals and patients, and been interviewed as a nutrition expert by television and newspaper journalists.

As a non-native English speaker, Alenka knows first hand the challenges of learning a new language, but most importantly, the benefits that speaking a new language can provide. She is very passionate about helping dietitians to better communicate with their Latino patients, both through language and addressing the customs and the culture.
